Rare 1960 Hohner Gola 414 120 Bass Accordion with Midi Bass
These highly sought after top quality accordions are widely regarded as one of the finest accordions ever produced, The Gola is still the choice of many world class players. New models cost over £30000 and are good but, not nearly as good as the original 1950s/early 1960s era Golas.
Acquired from a senior from south of England, this is a stunning example of a well cared and maintained 1960 Hohner Gola that has had full restoration (including the gold plating).
It has among the finest hand made reeds ever produced and this one features both semi swing on the 2 sets of middle reeds and of course bassoon and piccolo reed set.
** Also included in a bespoke carry case is a musette reed block to swap out a middle reed set to have full 3 voice musette tuning.
Recently fitted with a modern contactless magnetic midi bass system for excellent accompaniment functionality.
The truly outstanding Gola sound is in part due to the exceptional quality of the hand crafted reed plates as each were individually selected in Italy by Gola himself, ensuring that the initial response of each reed occurred at an identical air pressure.
This Gola made in 1960 was personally hand finished and checked over by Giovanni Gola himself and emery paper used rather than a file to avoid scratching the reeds.
This is the real McCoy so don’t miss it, it’s an accordion for life.
